TotalEnergies has extended its contract with Northern Ocean for an additional three months, keeping the Deepsea Mira semi-submersible rig in West Africa. This extension highlights the rig’s strong performance and strengthens the ongoing partnership between the two companies.

The Deepsea Mira, a 6th-generation rig built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, is designed to work at depths of over 10,000 feet. It is equipped with advanced technology, including dynamic positioning and anchor-mooring systems, which allow it to perform well in difficult offshore conditions.

This contract extension is expected to bring Northern Ocean between $27 million and $38 million in additional revenue. As a result, the company’s backlog (the total value of contracts yet to be completed) will increase to between $515 million and $545 million.

Arne Jacobsen, CEO of Northern Ocean, commented, “This extension strengthens our good relationship with TotalEnergies and shows how reliable and capable the Deepsea Mira is.” He added that the partnership is about more than just a business agreement – it reflects a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in offshore drilling.

The extension also confirms the Deepsea Mira’s reputation as a top-tier drilling asset and shows TotalEnergies’ trust in Northern Ocean’s ability to deliver high-quality services, supported by Odfjell Drilling’s expertise in handling complex offshore operations.

The deal highlights the growing demand for advanced offshore drilling solutions as energy companies continue to expand their exploration efforts in key regions around the world. The Deepsea Mira remains a symbol of technological achievement and operational success in the energy industry.
